Just a photo of a real1799 Bust dollar may not be of to much help. The weigh is usually off on a fake. The coin should weigh 26.96 grams. If you bought it for less than $ 500 and you got it on line the chances of it being real is very slim. Also look for pock marks or parts of the legend that has wide letters. The bust and lettering will not have sharp lines, even if worn the lines should have a sharpness to them not mushy. The best people to let you know if it is real is the grading service ANACS. They have a good crew their that know their fakes and have been doing it the longest. One dead give away is if it has a reeded edge, for back then the dollars had a lettered edge.
